Artificial Turf Cost in Adelaide: Installed Prices and What Changes Them

30 June 2026 · 2 min read · AOI Editorial

Professionally installed artificial turf in Adelaide currently runs $100–$140 per square metre for quality 35–40 mm Australian-standard product, including strip-out, base preparation and infill. Our published rate sits in that band and is bookable online per m².

Supply-only turf might be $25–$45 per m², which raises the obvious question: where does the rest go?

The cost is mostly underground

A lasting installation is a civil job with a green surface on top:

  1. Strip-out — the old lawn plus 80–100 mm of soil dug out and disposed of (that disposal is real money — see per-load pricing);
  2. Weed membrane over the exposed base;
  3. Crushed rock base — spread, screeded and plate-compacted. This layer is why good lawns stay flat for 15 years and cheap ones wrinkle in two;
  4. Turf, joined and pinned — seams taped and glued, edges secured;
  5. Silica infill brushed in to ballast the turf and stand the pile up.

Roughly 60–70% of an installed price is labour, base materials and disposal. When a quote undercuts the market by $30/m², it's almost always the base or the disposal being skipped — the two things you can't see at handover.

What moves the price

  • Access. Wheelbarrow-only access adds labour to every tonne of rubble out and rock in.
  • Existing surface. Stripping old paving or concrete costs more than stripping dead lawn.
  • Shape. Curves and islands mean more cutting and more joins than a simple rectangle.
  • Turf grade. Pile height, stitch rate and yarn shape move supply cost. C-shape and W-shape yarns hold up best under Adelaide UV.
  • Pet package. Permeable backing plus antimicrobial infill adds a few dollars per m² and is worth every cent for dog owners.

Comparing quotes fairly

Ask every quoter the same four questions: How deep is the strip-out? How thick is the compacted base? Is disposal included? What infill and how much per m²? If the answers are vague, the price is fiction. Ours are published — price your area and book online, with the total locked before we start.
